Thomas D. “Rusty” Brady age 70 of Sand Fork, WV; departed this life late in the evening on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his residence in Sand Fork following an extended illness.
He was born January 29, 1950 in Marion County, WV; son of the late Thomas Jr. and Bernice Jane Jones Brady.
Rusty is a veteran of the United States Army, having served this great country for 22 and a half years, and retiring in 1992. Once retired, he moved the family home to Gilmer County, where he would remain for the rest of his life.
He is a graduate of Sand Fork High School, class of 1968 and a longtime member of the Sand Fork Baptist Church. Rusty was a very giving man, having volunteered a lot of his time to church functions which includes driving the church van to pick up children and church goers, volunteering his time to the Hands of Pride Education Center, and umpiring baseball games for Gilmer County youth baseball.
In his spare time, Rusty enjoyed all forms of sports, with a special interest in WVU sports. He also enjoyed working on his lawn and could be seen riding his lawn tractor weekly when weather permitted.
On October 1, 1971 Rusty was united in marriage to Yvonne Marie Breeden Brady, who survives at their Sand Fork home.
Surviving are 2 children Thomas D. Brady Jr. and wife Rebecca of Lake Placid, FL; and Tonya M. Wells and husband Travis of Morgantown, WV; and 5 grandchildren, Katherine, Alex, and Cheney Brady of Lake Placid, FL; and Titan and Thorin Wells of Morgantown, WV.
Also surviving are 7 siblings, Richard A. Brady of Stouts Mills, WV; William M. Brady and wife Doris of Stouts Mills, Robert E. Brady and wife Vicki of Kenneth City, FL; Steven W. Brady and wife Brenda of Stouts Mills, Mary E. Heckert and husband Terry of Glenville, WV; Judith A. Smoll and husband Bruce of Stouts Mills, and Beverly J. Sherry and husband Michael of Temple Terrace, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other wonderful family and friends.
Do to the current restrictions on public gathering because of the Covid-19 pandemic the family will have a private graveside service at the Meadow Lane Cemetery on Sunday, March 29, 2020 with Pastor Don Dague officiating.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and a celebration of Rusty’s Life will be conducted later in the summer of 2020 once public gathering restrictions have been lifted.
