Ruby Garrett Coberly, 100 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the early afternoon hours of Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the West Virginia Caring Hospice House in Elkins, WV; following a brief illness. She was born October 17, 1921 in Sand Fork, WV; daughter of the late John R. and Daisey Snyder Garrett. Ruby is a graduate of Glenville High School, and retired beautician in the Gilmer County area. She was the owner/operator of Ruby’s Beauty shop in Glenville and after her retirement, Ruby enjoyed traveling with her son Gary around country. She was very active in the Glenville Church of Christ, and was a member of the Rosie the Riveter organization for her work building American bombers during World War II. On August 19, 1940 Ruby was united in marriage to Clark C. “Champ” Coberly who preceded her in death on June 30, 1997. Ruby is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins on both the Coberly and Garrett sides of the family. Along with her husband and parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her loving son, Gary, who passed on September 25, 2020 and 8 siblings, Ernest Garrett, Earl Garrett, Harold Sam Garrett, Fred “Bill” Garrett, Taylor Garrett, Ethel Barker, Eulah Barker, and Muriel Currey. A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Sunday, April 3, 2022 with Pastor Charles Brady officiating. Burial will follow in the Coberly Cemetery along Cedar Creek Road. Friends will be received from 12:00 – 1:00 PM; Sunday afternoon at the mortuary in Glenville. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the West Virginia Caring Hospice in honor of Ruby.
