Dortha J. Hess Gillespie

Dortha Jean Hess, 77, of Martinsburg, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Berkeley Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV.

She was born April 1, 1937 in Glenville, WV, a daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie Riley Gillespie.

She was formerly employed as a stocker at Wal-Mart. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to spend time with her family especially her great-granddaughter, Autumn Rayne Hess.

She is survived by two sons, Orlen Glenn Hess of Glenville, WV; David Hess and wife Lisa and their four children of Martinsburg; two daughters, Elizabeth Starkey and husband Mike and their two children of Liberal, KS; Debra Bee and husband, Robbie; granddaughter Mary Gray and husband Steven and their four children; grandson John Hess and wife, Lisa; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hess; a brother, Robert Gillespie of St. Clairsville, OH; and one sister, Hilda Langford of Weston, WV.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Oren Hess and 2 siblings.

Friends may call 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville, WV, where funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon with Rev. Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, Glenville.
