Roger Neil Kennedy

Roger Neil Kennedy, 74 of Normantown, WV; departed this earthly life in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Genesis Health Care, Glenville Center following an extended illness.

He was born January 25, 1948 in Weston, WV; son of the late Junior and Garnett Currey Kennedy.

Roger is a graduate of Normantown High School, class of 1965 and longtime member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is a former partial owner of Appalachian Piping and Apcon Lumber in Glenville, a longtime farmer in the Normantown community and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, singing, watching westerns on TV, and spending as much time as possible with his granddaughter Lily.

On April 5, 1968 Roger was united in marriage to Jeane Hern Kennedy, who survives at their Normantown home.

Surviving are 1 son, Chris Kennedy and wife Michelle, 1 granddaughter, Lily Kennedy, 3 step-grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, and Emma Jenkins, all of Morgantown, WV; and 3 brothers, Kevin Kennedy and wife Donna of Normantown, Scott Kennedy of Normantown, and Kent Kennedy and wife Jane of Ripley, WV;

Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with his parents, Roger is preceded in death by a brother, James Kennedy.

Roger’s request for cremation has been honored and a memorial service will be conducted at the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Normantown at 2:00 PM; Monday, January 30, 2023 with Pastor Roger Stewart officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3603 Gassaway Road, Normantown, WV; 25267 in honor of Roger.
