Claris Mae Peggs

Claris Mae Peggs, 98 of Parkersburg, WV; formerly of Gilmer County, departed this earthly life in the late evening hours of Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Worthington Healthcare Center in Parkersburg, WV following an extended illness.

She was born May 26, 1924 in Glenville, WV; daughter of the late Duffy O. and Gay Wilfong Bush.

Claris is a Christian by faith and had a strong belief in her Lord. She believed her faith would get her through all hardships. Claris worked at the Ludwick Glass Factory in Glenville for many years and after her husband passed she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, babysitting, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.

On June 14, 1947 Claris was united in marriage to Harry Glenn Peggs, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1983.

Surviving is her loving daughter, Linda James and husband Elbon of Normantown, WV; 4 grandchildren, Phillip Peggs Jr., of Parkersburg, Jeremy Scott James of Normantown, Joshua Lee James of Martinsburg, WV; and Jennifer Lynn Whetzel of Hedgesville, WV.

Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her husband and parents, Claris is preceded in death by a son, Phillip W. Peggs, 2 grandchildren, Gerald G. Peggs, Tanya Lynnette Peggs, and 2 siblings, Ora Lee Taylor and Duffy O. Bush Jr.

A private graveside service is being conducted by Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., at the Meadow Lane Cemetery near Glenville where she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband Harry. Expressions of sympathy may be sent directly to Linda and Elbon James of Steer Run Road in Normantown.
