Naomi Ruth “Ruthie” (Moss) Kuhl, 91 of Bridgeport, WV; formerly of Ashland, OH; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born May 21, 1932 near Glenville, WV; daughter of the late Everett L. and Jennie (Wilfong) Moss. She attended the Spruce Run, one room, School, thru the 8th grade. After graduation from Spruce Run, she walked or rode a bicycle 2 ½ miles to catch a bus to Normantown High School. After graduating High School, she went to live with her sister, Vivian Moss Furr, in Maple Heights, Ohio and became employed making artillery shells. In 1952, she married her High School sweetheart, Bobby G. Kuhl. When Bobby entered the army in 1952, she returned to WV; and became employed at the Hazel Atlas Glass Co. in Clarksburg. After her husband’s return from the service, they returned to Cleveland Ohio where she was employed at the Sears Roebuck Company as a supervisor. She retired when her husband was transferred to Ashland Ohio in 1980. In Ashland, she was involved in many organizations; CWF at the First Christian Church, The Flora Garden Club, The AAA Auto Club of America, and a few Carnival Glass Clubs. She and her husband, Bobby, entertained at nursing homes along with many other venues, singing gospel and country and western music. She spent 15 winters as a “snowbird”, in Florida, where they continued sharing their love for gospel and country western songs. On April 12, 1952 Ruthie was united in marriage to Bobby G. Kuhl, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2023. Surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other wonderful family and friends. Along with her parents and husband, Ruthie is preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Moss Rinehart, Vivian Moss Furr, and two brothers, Bryan and John Moss. A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, October 6, 2023. Burial will follow in the Collins Community Cemetery in Stumptown, WV. Friends will be received from 5:00 PM; – 7:00 PM; Thursday evening and 12:00 noon – 1:00 PM; Friday at the mortuary in Glenville. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church or the Collins Community Cemetery in honor of Ruthie.
