Rev. Austin R. White, 73 of Chapel, WV; departed this earthly life and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 2, 1951 in Sutton, WV; son of the late Albert “Ray” and Floda (Hart) White.
Austin is a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country with dignity and pride. Austin was co-owner of Miller & White lumber company. He retired after 40 years from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 147. In his spare time, Austin enjoyed hunting, farming, preaching the word of God, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
Austin had tremendous faith in the lord and loved preaching the gospel. He ministered at the Orlando Baptist Church in Orlando, WV; until recently and also helped minister at the Engel Chapel Community Church in Gassaway.
On March 7, 1969 Austin was united in marriage to Geraldine “Gerry” (Shields) White who survives at their Chapel home.
Along with his loving wife of 55 years, Austin is survived by a son Nelson (Tina) White of Perkins, WV; daughter Angie (Jason) Conrad of Mechanicsville, VA; seven grandchildren, Elania (Kevin) Rhoades of Glenville, WV; Jonathon (Gerrie) Conrad of Sandston, VA; Ashlee (Bruce) Wayne of Chapel, WV; McKinzie White of Morgantown, WV; TJ Conrad of Mechanicsville, VA; Breanna White of Perkins, WV; Rayanna White of Perkins, WV and two great-grandchildren Kacey & Layla Wayne of Chapel, WV.
Also surviving are 7 siblings, Fay Marks, Kay (Doug) Henline, Nina Stump, Marjorie Bourne, Connie (Gary) Gainer, Joyce (Larry) Fisher and Dana (Caren) White, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Austin is preceded in death by 4 siblings, Treva Berry, Kenneth White, Willadene Moyers, and June Shaffer.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Dive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 11:00 AM; Friday, June 28, 2024 with Pastor Tom Harper and Pastor Rick Hart officiating. Immediately following services, Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard in front of the mortuary. Burial will follow on the White Family Farm near Perkins. Friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 PM; Thursday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Wings of Hope, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330 in honor of Austin.
