Ellen Stilwell

She was born on November 6, 1940 in Braxton County, WV; daughter of the late John “Woody” Lynch and Ruth Ellen Berry Lewis, and step-daughter of Randall “Bunny” Lewis.

In 1960 Ellen was united in marriage to Denzil Stilwell who preceded her in death in 2011.

Ellen enjoyed traveling with her family in various parts of the country, camping and boating with numerous friends in her earlier years and studying genealogy. Ellen was a life-long caregiver to her son Phillip, until his passing in June, 2024.

Ellen is survived by her nephew Jeff (Corrine) Lynch of Clarksburg, WV; and niece, Yvette Lynch of Huntington, WV.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins of the Lynch and Stilwell families and she was blessed to be a great aunt and great-great aunt to several.

Along with her parents and step-father Ellen is preceded in death by her beloved husband Denzil, son Phillip, and a brother Harry D. Lynch.

Ellen’s request for cremation has been honored and a Celebration of her and Phillip’s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM; Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Burnsville Community Building in Burnsville, WV. Friends will be received from

1:00 – 3:00 PM; Sunday, September 8, at the community building in Burnsville.
