Deanna Sue Yost, 78 of Copen, WV; departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following brief illness.
She was born January 21, 1947 in Baltimore City, MD; daughter of the late Avarilla Steele.
Deanna worked as a pet groomer for more than 50 years and enjoyed her work caring for animals and working with their owners. She is described as a selfless caring women who had a strong connection to her Lord and Savior. She loved to sing in church with her children and grandchildren and was a Lay Speaker for the Methodist charge.
Deanna is a Methodist by faith and long-time member of the Right Hand Fork Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing softball in her youth, listening to Elvis Presley, spending time with family and friends, living the quiet life in West Virginia, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
In August 1983 Deanna was united in marriage to William Yost, who preceded her in death in August of 1999 and preceded in death by her first husband Roger Jamison, who departed this life in October of 1980.
Surviving are 4 children, Paula Mays and husband Mark of Sevierville, TN; Rodney Jamison and wife Priscilla of Nicholas Co., WV; Brian Jamison and companion Sue Keener of Copen, WV; and Billie Wilson and husband Justin of Copen, WV; and 2 siblings, Kevin “Bunky” Whisenant and wife Belinda and Kenton Whisenant and wife Deborah, both of Crew, VA.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Matthew Mays, John Mays (Ashley), Summer Jamison, and Adalyn Wilson, and 5 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Nolan, Jaiden, Jamison, and Lucy Mays.
Along with her mother and both husbands, Deanna is preceded in death by her adopted parents, Johnnie and Ethel Steele.
Deanna’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of her life will be conducted later in 2025.
