Judith Ann “Judy” Jaffre, age 55 of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday evening, November 8, 2015 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, West Virginia following a sudden illness.
Born April 3, 1960 in Fairmont, West Virginia, Judy was the daughter of the late William and Clara Hevener Devers.
Judy was a graduate of Salem High School in Salem, West Virginia, class of 1978, a graduate of Glenville State College, class of 1982, with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education 1-6 with a specialization in Mental Retardation K-12, Specific Learning, and Disabilities K-12. She was also a member of the Delta Zeta sorority at Glenville State College.
Upon her college graduation, Judy was employed by the Gilmer County Board of Education as a teacher in Sand Fork Elementary, Glenville Elementary, and Gilmer County High School. She retired in 2012 with 30 years of experience.
In her spare time, Judy enjoyed shopping, traveling with a special interest in cruises, and crafts. She was an avid movie buff who enjoyed going to the theatres whenever she could. She holds a record of four movies in one day.
Judy’s true passion in life was her family. She loved spending time with family, friends, and her pets, whom she treated like her children. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Glenville First Baptist Church.
On August 13, 1983, Judy was united in marriage to David William Jaffre, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2000.
Surviving is one daughter, Jessica Dawn Cook and husband Randall “R.J.” of Glenville, WV, and her beloved pet Chihuahua, Sasha.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Glenville First Baptist Church, 217 East Main Street, Glenville, WV, 26351 at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 13, 2015 with Rev. Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, in Stouts Mills. Friends may call from 5-8 PM, Thursday evening at the First Baptist Church on Main St.
