James Lee “Jim-Doody” Cosner age 68 of Dusk Camp Run Road, Sand Fork, West Virginia, departed this life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Braxton County Memorial Hospital in Gassaway, West Virginia, following a sudden illness.
James was born on January 29, 1947 in Gilmer County, West Virginia, a son of the late John Russell Cosner, Clyda Belle Barker Cosner Steele, and Eugene Steele.
James was a coal miner, truck driver, and heavy equipment operator in the coal mining industry. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, farming, and tinkering around the house. In his spare time James loved joking around, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling his grandchildren with Mountain Dew and chocolate. He was also a Baptist by faith.
On May 13, 1978, he was united in marriage to Wilda Mae Conrad Cosner, who survives at their Dusk Camp home.
Surviving are 8 children David John Gullo, of Fairmont West Virginia, Lenora Marks and Jesse “JJ”, of Sand Fork, West Virginia, Margaret Zinn and husband Steve of Tanner, West Virginia, J.R. Cosner and Kendra Payne of Vermont, Billy Jo Darity and husband Phil of California, Katrina Jones and husband Rob of Glenville, West Virginia, Jason Cosner and wife Nevie of Dusk Camp, West Virginia, and Zechariah Cosner of Dusk Camp, West Virginia, 1 sister Mary Frances Hickman of Glenville, West Virginia, and 13 grandchildren, Bre Gullo, Matthew Fragman, Autumn Marks, Jesse James Marks IV, Ben Cosner, Nick Cosner, Cody Cosner, Lucas Darity, Robert Jones III, Anna Yoho, Damon Moss, Kenny Moss, and Jake Cosner.
Also Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and 2 special friends, Kelvin “Cowtail” Knicely of Dusk Camp, West Virginia and Brent Wilmoth of Burnsville, West Virginia.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by 1 Brother in Law, John William Hickman.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, West Virginia, 26351 at 2:00 PM, Sunday December 6, 2015 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Steele Cemetery on Turkey Fork Road in Stouts Mills. Family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the mortuary.
