Virginia Lee Black age 68 of Dusk Camp Road, Sand Fork, West Virginia, departed this life at 10:18 PM; Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, following an extended illness. Virginia was born August 16, 1947 in Gilmer County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Enic and Genevieve Conrad McCord.
Virginia was a homemaker who loved to care for her family. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren whenever possible, spending time with friends and family, and she was a Christian by faith. In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed fishing, making crafts, painting, and spending time with her pet dogs Bandit and Cindy.
Virginia was united in marriage to Floyd Vance Black, who preceded her in death in May 1994.
Surviving are 2 daughter, Emma Lue Black Donaldson and husband James of Dusk Camp, WV; and Amy Sue Smith and husband Daniel of Sand Fork, WV; and 6 grandchildren, James F. “Bub” Donaldson Jr., Savanna Page Smith, Aleah Makenzie Smith , Kiara Lynn and Franklin Vance Cunningham, and Beth Smith.
Also surviving are 2 siblings, Carolyn Sue McCord of Dusk Camp, WV and Eugene McCord also of Dusk Camp.
Along with her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by 1 child, Terry Lynn Black, 4 brothers, Roger Dale McCord, James Ernest McCord, Robert McCord, and Charles Ronnie McCord, 1 sister, Martha Josephine Sergeant, and Virginia’s long term companion, Sheridan Ray Ables.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, March 18, 2016 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Conrad Cemetery on Dusk Camp. Friends may call from 12 noon- 1:00 PM; Friday afternoon at the Mortuary.
