Stephen P. Sprouse, 80 of Normantown, WV; departed this earthly life in the mid-morning hours of Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born August 26, 1941 in Lockney, WV; son of the late Edgar L. and Hazel Grimes Sprouse.

Stephen is a United States Army veteran and worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator on the pipelines of West Virginia. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, spending time outdoors, living the quiet life in WV; and spending time with family and friends.

Stephen is a Baptist by faith and longtime member of the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church.

On October 19, 1963 Stephen was united in marriage to Carol Moss Sprouse who survives at their Normantown Home.

Surviving are 4 children, Stephen W. Sprouse (Marlece) and Carol Jarvis (Thomas) both of Normantown, Pamela Tuley of Parkersburg, WV; and Christopher Sprouse (Angela) of Glenville, 7 grandchildren, Brandon Sprouse, Jacob Tuley, Megan Tuley, Cody Tuley (Mackenzie), Madison Jarvis, Sydney Sprouse, and Hayley Sprouse, and 1 great-grandson, Barrett Parsons.

He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Janice Hendershot of Sand Fork, Verle Sprouse of Normantown, Corlis (Randy) Stump of Normantown., Eileen (Mike) Richardson of Spencer, WV; Janette Ramezan of Sand Fork, Sharon (Doyle) Zirkle of Keyser, WV; Kenneth Sprouse & Colin Sprouse of Normantown, & numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and many other wonderful family and friends, all of whom he loved very much.

Along with his parents, Stephen is preceded in death by 7 siblings, Delmas and Roger Sprouse, infant brother, Calvin Leon Sprouse, Lulu Elaine Morris, Betty Jenkins and Arlene Carol Harper.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 11:00 AM; Friday, December 24, 2021 with Pastor Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Steer Run Baptist Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army. Friends will be received from 5:00 – 8:00 PM; Thursday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
