Richard Mark “Rick” Pitts, 69 of Grantsville, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his residence along the Little Kanawha Highway with his loving wife by his side.

He was born May 29, 1952 in Baltimore, MD; son of the late Loranza “Jack” and Glena “Meme” Hardman Pitts.

Rick is a graduate of Calhoun County High School, class of 1970 and a veteran of the United States Army. He worked most of his life in the natural gas industry, having spent time as a compressor station worker and later a warehouse manager for Dominion Energy, before retiring in 2012.

In his spare time, Rick enjoyed Camping, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, attending Nascar races, and music. Ricky Rock Star as he would come to be known had a real passion for music that dates back to his childhood. He loved playing the drums and singing vocals in bands and was a member of the Purple Haze in High School and the band Dixie Moon later on in life.

On December 8, 1984 Rick was united in marriage to Sharon Anne Watkins Pitts, who survives at their Grantsville home.

Surviving are 2 grandchildren, Sophia Beam of Parkersburg, WV; and Max Beam of Grantsville, and 2 siblings, Jackie Blankenship and husband Ron of Grantsville, and Barry Pitts and companion Maria  of Jeanette, PA.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Pitts who departed this life in August 2012.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Tuesday, December 28, 2021 with Pastor Matt Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Community Cemetery in Stumptown, WV; with Full Military Honors provided by the United States Army. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Tuesday at the mortuary in Glenville.

In lieu of flowers the family of Rick Pitts request memorial contributions be made to the Calhoun County Marching Band, 50 Underwood Circle, Mount Zion WV 26151 in his honor.
