Enoch Arden Bishop, 81, husband of Viola Nolan Bishop, passed away Monday, July 4, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Arden was born on May 18, 1941, in Rosedale, WV to Paul and Gathel Bishop. On May 25th 1963, he was married to Viola Nolan Bishop.

In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, Arden is survived by his sister Mary Gum of Salem, SC and his brother David Bishop of Sand Fork, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two special grandnieces Destiney and Victoria Nolan. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Gathel Bishop and two sisters Ruth James and Ermal Harris.

He graduated from Sand Fork High School in 1960 and attended Glenville State College for 2 years and then decided to join the Army. He and Viola were married on May 25, 1963 and spent 3 years of Military service which they loved. When they had time off they enjoyed panning for gold, target shooting, sleigh riding and sightseeing when stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1966 after the Army they both went to work for General Electric in Warren, Ohio. After 36 years with GE, they both retired in 2002 and moved back to Glenville. They loved spending their retirement golfing, playing Bluegrass Music, going to the beach with family, and just being with family every day. His love of golf led him to coach the Gilmer County High School golf team to a State Championship in 2003.

Arden never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He had a strong work ethic and extraordinary mechanical skills. He had a deep devotion to his wife Viola. He will be missed by all who knew him.The family will receive friends starting at noon on Saturday, July 9 at Ellyson Mortuary, 2 Vanhorn Dr., Glenville with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Bryan Groves.
