Golden Burl Jenkins, 80 of Glenville, WV; (Baldwin Community) departed this earthly life in the evening hours of Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at his residence on Jakes Run with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Orton, WV; (Normantown Community) on January 18, 1942, son of the late Arch and Lena Smith Jenkins.

Golden is a graduate of Normantown High School, class of 1960, and a veteran of the United States Army having served from September of 1966 to September of 1968. He served as Sgt. E-5 in the 163rd Transportation Company in ChuLai, Vietnam. In February 1968, he returned to Fort Dix, New Jersey as Transportation and Supply Sargent of Reserve Force Headquarters, and was discharged honorably in September of 1968.

During his working life, Golden was a police officer for Glenville State University, he was an over the road truck driver, a bus driver for the Gilmer County School System, and was the owner/operator of Jenkins tire sales on Jakes Run.

Golden is a long time member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church having been a member since 1956. He also attended services at the Stewarts Creek Community Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working, camping, spending time with family and friends, living the quiet life in West Virginia, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.

On July 13, 1963 Golden was united in marriage to Betty Louise Wilson Jenkins, who survives at their Baldwin Community home.

Surviving is his loving daughter, Tina Frymier (Mike) of Glenville, 2 grandchildren, Steven “Trey” Godfrey (Kaitlyn) of Copley, WV; and Chayton Godfrey of Glenville, and a great-granddaughter, Briar Godfrey of Copley.

Also surviving are 2 siblings, Charles Jenkins (Wilda) of Normantown, and Glena Green of Glenville, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Preceding Golden in death are 10 siblings, Geraldine Cogar, Goldamurl Atchison, Greta Hardman, Ralph “Jack” Jenkins, Gordon Jenkins (twin brother), Emerson Jenkins, Eugene Jenkins, Marple Jenkins, and infants, Woodrow and Marvin Jenkins.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Monday, November 14, 2022 with Pastor Dave Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery near Glenville. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Monday at the mortuary in Glenville.
